Host - Manager - Owner

Primarily responsible for first and lasting impressions, Jum is the Spirt of Thai Orchid. Helping her mother as a young one, Jum has embedded the Thai hospitality in her blood. Her genuine smiles are infectious and Jummi takes pleasure in turning diners into friends. Jummi is a legend trekker and loves the outdoors.

Jules Stokes

Host - Operations - Owner

Jules took over Thai Orchid with Jum in June 22nd 2017. With a personal history, the iconic Thai Orchid is a special place to the CHCH born Kiwi. Jules role is in systems & support - Supporting the team to shine & create a fantastic dining experience, ensuring it's a special place for everyone. Jules is happy when he is hanging with friends and hanging off the Port Hills.

Pichai Klangkarn

Head Chef

Pichai is not only the Head Chef of Thai Orchid, but one of the Top Thai chefs you will find in New Zealand. Pichai’s ability comes from his passion and love of cooking, hunting and fishing. Pichai is not only a great chef, but great leader under pressure and has a nifty foot for the Thai local sport, footy volley ball.

Important to Noi is keeping fit, healthy & eating well. His attention to detail can be seen in his own fitness and healthy lifestyle. You may recognise Noi keeping fit biking the streets of CHCH or running Hagley Park. You may also recognise Noi in the latest movie John Wick 3.

TANG Bunrueang

Soux Chef

It’s not unusual to see Tang walking the parks and keeping fit. 20km walks are not uncommon. The 'Mum' of the kitchen, Tang keeps the Orchid family and Kitchen strong, calm and bonded.

Smart, quick and attention to detail, the multi-talented Wan completes everything from the POS, waiting & food preparation. Never a problem and all done well with a smile. Customer favourite for hugs and chats.

FRONT OF HOUSE | FOH
Are you a people-person, energetic with passion and confident to front a house? Do you genuinely care for others, appreciate people’s differences and uniqueness?

If you are a high achiever and desire to be part of a top Christchurch restaurant and believe you can add personality and positive energy into the team then we want to hear from you!

You will need to enjoy a fast paced, high energy environment where working nights and weekends are the norm. We have 2 dining levels plus outdoor in summer therefore a high level of fitness and good BMI, Body Mass Index is required. Management skills are needed as you will be responsible for operational aspects including Point Of Sale Reporting and End-of-Day. Leadership and communication skills will be essential to keep an inspired and energetic team.

We are looking for a Front of House person who could train to a Duty Manager position. Bar and Barista experience would be advantageous but not essential. Cross-Training in every role is likely. This is a Part-Time or Casual Position with rostered hours varying from week to week.

CHEF | KIWI COOK

Are you a passionate about food? Do you genuinely love cooking, appreciate different styles and cultural uniqueness’s and differences? Are you keen to be part of a supportive team?

If you are a high achiever and desire to be part of a top Christchurch Cafe / Restaurant and believe you can add skill and positive energy into the team then we also want to hear from you!

You will need to enjoy a fast paced kitchen, high energy environment where high volumes and high pressure can be the weekend norm.

Requirements: Due to management aspects of the role, good experience and skills are required:
• At least 3 years Chef | Cooking experience
• At least 1 year as Head Chef | Management
• Good English, Current Driver’s License

NOTE: This particular role is NOT for a Thai Chef. We are opening up for Kiwi Lunches (alongside the Thai Lunches) and need Kiwi experience in Café Style food preparation and execution.

At this stage it is a Part-Time Position with rostered Lunch hours varying from week to week. We are looking for the best so you will have opportunity to show off your skills in a mini cooking competition.
